GradPath is also a resource for faculty supervisors and graduate chairs who mentor and support graduate students. We hope that the programs and resources listed on the site will help you in your work and save you time.

How will GradPath help faculty members?

You don’t need to remember when TA Training or career development programs are offered and who is offering them - just refer students to GradPath.  GradPath is a portal to all graduate student professional development programs at Western.  It highlights information and resources that students will need to succeed at each stage of the graduate journey, from coursework through comprehensive exams, thesis writing and publishing to the job search after graduation.

Do your students need to prepare for a conference presentation or overcome procrastination?

GradPath will help them find programs on campus that will help them succeed.

Workshops and courses listed on GradPath provide critical communication, writing, teaching, research and professionals skills. The programs listed on the website complement the disciplinary preparation that students receive in their departments through coursework, research, conference participation and interaction with faculty and peers.

Are you facilitating a professional development seminar in your own department?

You will find hundreds of resources on career development, job interviews, conference presentations, teaching or time management on the GradPath website – listed by the competencies they promote.  Feel free to use these and share them with students.

The GradPath Competencies

The GradPath competencies identified as critical for graduate student success are in part on the Canadian Association of Graduate Studies’ list of professional skills for new researchers; on the doctoral education literature, and on the Vitae Researcher Development Framework.
